Certifications
If you are interested in furthering your
studies and certifications in the area of Gentle, Senior and Chair Yoga, we offer a variety of
courses, workshops and tracks where you can earn Yoga Alliance Continuing Education units as well as
achieve certification upon passing the accreditation exam for the area of your interest. Topics covered:
Fundamentals of Gentle Yoga - Core Courses

- Business and Marketing of Gentle Yoga
Chair Yoga Track
The Chair Yoga Track encompasses the wide variety of populations served by this Gentle Yoga format.
There is a growing
need for Chair Yoga in the workplace to counteract repetitive stress activities, in the
senior community and in serving those individuals coming off an injury or health setback. Chair Yoga provides a
well-rounded and safe yoga practice that can be made accessible to all. Topics covered:
- Completion of Gentle Yoga Core Course
- Deskworker and Ergonomic Chair Yoga
- Chair Yoga for the Wheelchair-bound
- Chair Yoga for the Physically-challenged
- Senior Chair Yoga - Seated and Standing
Senior Yoga Track
The Senior Yoga Track focuses primarily on senior-related health issues and
needs. With the growing need for Gentle Yoga teachers in Assisted Living Centers, Senior Centers, Community
Centers, etc, this expertise will be in high demand for years to come. Topics covered:
- Completion of Gentle Yoga Core Course
- Fundamentals of Teaching to Seniors
- Individual Workshops on Senior Health Issues (Balance, Arthritis, Heart conditions, etc)
- Senior Chair Yoga - Seated and Standing
- Know Your Students! Senior Yoga Student Panel Discussion
Gentle Yoga Therapy Track
The Gentle Yoga Therapy Track focuses on yoga therapy for specific structural issues or related
health conditions. It is our aim to increase Yoga teachers' skills in working with various
conditions they may come across in a public class.
The courses in this track have been compliled to provide the student teacher with a targeted
area of expertise and optional certification for the specific area. Topics covered:
- Completion of Gentle Yoga Core Course
- Fundamentals of Teaching Gentle Yoga Therapy
- Safety 101
- Gentle Yoga Therapy for A Healthy Back
- Gentle Yoga Therapy for A Healthy Hips
- Gentle Yoga Therapy for A Healthy Knees
- Gentle Yoga Therapy for A Healthy Shoulder Girdle
- Body Reading and Self Assessment
Note: A full yoga therapist certification
must be pursued with an accredited Yoga Therapy organization in order to use the title "Certified Yoga Therapist".
Somatic Studies Track
The Somatic Studies Track focuses on injuries and/or lifestyle movement patterns that have caused structural misalignments or malfunctions in the body. By learning Hanna Somatic theory, philosophy, and practice combined with Gentle Yoga asana’s, the teacher will expand their repertoire of serving a larger population of people seeking Gentle Yoga for healing. Topics covered:
- Completion of Gentle Yoga Core Course
- Introduction to Somatics
- Neuromuscular Re-Education and reversing Sensory Motor Amnesia
- Integrating Somatics with Gentle Yoga (GYSE Methodology - Gentle Yoga through Somatic Exploration )
